In June 1971, TTTC was renamed the China Testing and Research Center (CTTRC). The emphasis was on quality control, testing and certification. From 1980, more emphasis was put on research and development of textile processing.

Mr. Li, Mo was elected as Chairman, executing important textile related technical R&D projects and technical guidance authorized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). This was done in order to service the textile industry and promote industry-upgrade with research and development.

Mr. Huang, Yaw-tang Thomas served as Chairman with the role as the industry representative with Yeh, yi-xiong as the Vice Chairman. They emphasized meeting industry demands, and promoting CTI as an international standard R&D and testing Institute for functional and technical textiles.

In order to establish research and development and manage expansion, functionality and internationalization of service-oriented business, CTI changed the name in Sep. 2004 to “TTRI”. Prof. Yao, Shin-chuan has undertaken the post of president in the brand-new era of this specialized research and development organization.

In November of 2007, Mr. Shin, Yen-shiang has taken up the position of chairman, and Mr. Yeh, Yi-xiong as the vice-chairman. In January of 2008, Mr. Bai, Chi-chung was appointed the president of Taiwan Textile Research Institute, and they should work hands in hands to promote the institute to become a major institute of intemational-level on the research and development of textile technology and service.

In June, 2008, Mr. Shih, Yen-shiang resigned from the position of chairman. In the same year, Mr. Wang, Yea-kang took the place to be the 13th Chairman of Taiwan Texitile Research Institute.

On Oct.31., 2012, Mr. Wang, Yea-kang retired from the position of Chairman. Dr. Duh, Jyzz-jjun was appointed to be the 14th Chairman of Taiwan Textile Research Institute since Nov. 1, 2012

On May 31, 2016, Dr. Duh, Tyzz-jjun resigned from the position of Chairman. Mr. Shen, Jong-chin was appointed to be the 15th Chairman of Taiwan Textile Research Institute since June 1, 2016
